With a sigh, Shade walked a few steps away before he dropped down next to a tree and leaned up against it. "So you think there's no way for us to get out of here, ever?" he asked, squinting up at her.
He bent his knee, pulling it up and resting his arm on it. "Final Fantasy let you die from poison, but I never played an MMO version. The old Pokemon games did, too, but they took that mechanic out later, so I don't know."
Shade ticked off a few status effects. "I remember seeing someone earlier with a big red BLD next to their name, and their arm was all torn up, so I guess that was bleeding. Poison is pretty standard, and considering the size of those spiders, I'd be surprised if it wasn't there. I saw the shop sold items for those things, too, but I wonder what the hell else there is..." MELON★ that's the most annoying thing i've heard all day

Melon didn't respond immediately to Shade's question, a troubled hum lingering in her throat at the implications of that potential scenario.
"It's... A possibility. I truly hope it isn't, but if that's what really is happening? Then at least a self-sustaining environment would make some things easier, at least."
She relaxed slightly at the talk of status effects, inspecting the rock for a few more moments before taking a seat against the rock itself. "I haven't seen many games recently with status effects that persisted after battle. Or without wearing off on their own, even. But what else could there be..."
Another pause. "Have you tried fighting anything yet?" SHADE★ now don't say I never did anything for you

Shade relaxed once he saw that the strange girl--Melon, it wasn't going to be easy to remember to call someone something like that--wasn't going to sit next to him. He shrugged a little. "No," he said, honestly. "I chose bow proficiency for my weapon, but I still don't have one and I'm not going to start attacking things until I know that I can survive it."
Whether they really died or just sort of died and got revived, pain was still real here. And he wasn't about to just run around bleeding everywhere just because he wanted to know what happened when he punched a wolf in the face.
"Have you done any quests yet?" he asked. "I bet we have to do a few of those in order to get a weapon. I didn't see any for sale in the shop, when I looked." MELON★ the last time you did something for me i had like seven cold sores

Melon furrowed her brow lightly as she picked up a small rock off the ground, glancing around slowly to scan the area for potential targets. There didn't seem to be anyone else around aside from Shade, but she wasn't about to test it on him.
"Unfortunate. I've chosen Throwing Proficiency for mine, but only because I might be able to use it with a shield or another weapon later on. Although I don't know if rocks would actually fall under this field, and... Likewise. I'd be much more comfortable with an actual throwing weapon first."
She shook her head lightly at the question of quests, shifting around a bit to sit on her feet. She couldn't just lounge around like some sort of layabout, after all. "Not yet. I'm planning on looking at the board later and seeing what... Probably will not risk too much harm to myself. If there aren't any weapons for sale, though, then... That could prove to be a problem for later quests."
SHADE★ well I never specified that they were good things
