BIOGRAPHY There is a day that he’ll never forget. It was a simple… day, no different from the ones before, except that he had too much energy and ran on far from his mother and father, so far that they couldn’t find him. At the time he had found it amusing as he looked through the windows of a store across the street. The next moment, they were gone. Not fully gone, but gone. Back then he didn’t understand a car bomb… and there was no reason. At the age of six, Nimat Hani Isra became an orphan due to hatred, a misdirected hatred, but hatred none the less. One that he couldn’t understand, no matter how the adults tried to explain it to him. There was no comfort, nothing that he could do… and the only reason why they had been near the cars was because his parents thought he might have run off to the bus station. He loved the bus. It was a logical assumption. If you truly believe in Allah’s light, then you will be protected from evil… and yet, this was an evil that had been done to his parents, good Muslims. To say the least, his childhood was filled with grey. He loved his grandmother and his grandfather, but, little reached him, the comforting hug didn’t stop the tears or make the hurt go away. For all his grandparent’s attempts to soothe his soul, the best they could do was tell him that Allah had called them, that it was their time to go. Yet, the truth was that he blamed himself. If he had not run away… wouldn’t his parents still be here? If, if… if. Always if. The strain of a rapidly growing boy… was too much on an old antique shop owner and his wife… and though they loved the boy for the few times that joy would shine through, they realized quite quickly that they would not be able to provide for him soon. An old piano was the gateway… it punctured a festering wound, as he played the keys… haphazardly at first, because it was through that medium that his buried feelings surfaced and was released. He smiled, crying, but he smiled. Smiling, it made his grandparents happy… and he tried to make them happy, he worked in the shop and maybe he could live this life with them as he hid his knowledge down inside, buried it. He could be a good son to his grandparents. He would be a good son to his grandparents. Except, he was placed into an orphanage and that desire could not be fulfilled. They kept in contact through letters, but it wasn’t the same… mainly because he had difficulty reading. He was awkward… and he was adopted by a nice young couple, but… as he grew attached to them, they found that he was… too much for them to handle. To him, there were few problems, but to the couple, clearly, the child required more care than they could provide. Night terrors, lack of self esteem, social anxiety… they could not care for this child. He became a Special needs case as he found himself in another orphanage wondering what he had done wrong. If they loved him, they wouldn’t have given him up. He found solace in music… creating it, when he could as time passed on and he saw candidate after candidate pass over him and take his peers away. Leaving him alone. His awkward charm, as a teenager was… not charming at all… and his list of problems from his previous adoptions… didn’t help him. When he hit fourteen, he had given up hope that he would find a family that he would have to find his own way at the age of eighteen when the state would no longer care for him. That he would have to accept that he would not find a family. And it was through music that he expressed this… and it was heard, his playing. He had not even noticed a candidate as he played an ancient harp he had been sent by his grandparents ages ago, and… did not expect that… or really know why he was taken in by a one Charles Eden. He hadn’t been expecting this, but he was grateful for the chance. Though school quickly became a problem, his grades were… adequate, he only really excelled in biology and the arts, and he was without friends. His father was busy… very busy, and so while he was grateful, he often felt alone, unsure of where he really stood. If he would be sent back to the orphanage as he… he felt that he had nothing to offer the kindness that the man gave him. The internet became a refuge as he found himself bullied, he was a siren’s call to them as he never fought back merely ran. There was no point in fighting, and he did not wish pain on them, just that they would go away. It was this weakness that kept encouraging them. Yet, on the internet he had a place… true he was a bit on the older side, but… they were just as real to him as the people at school. On the day of the release, he bought himself a copy of the game as he became… worried about the younger members going into VR by themselves. They were unaware of the dangers of the internet… the forum was a safety net. He knew the horror stories… that and he… thought originally that he could help his father, become closer to him. As he was after all the perfect target. |

Concern, His screen name. That is what everyone is going to see him as. He's going to be called "Minoretop-two-five-one-two-c in-game. This is something that you don't technically have to change, but you've got an unusual naming system going already, with your other character too, and that's got the staff raising their eyebrows. Mostly, is there a reason behind the name for it to be like this?

Its a reference to something... like his favorite song on the Piano. That and honestly I have weird user names myself. I don't know why we wouldn't have numbers since, in MMOs I see a lot of them. Actually I've had I don't understand why this is raising eyebrows. The other name, is a reference to him being a NPC and is actually Finnish. Or smashed up Finnish. It means strong challenger, likely a joke on the designer's part, like how Guy.Brush became a joke and then a name. An NPC is likely a compiled object, so... instead of a user name, I gave him a directory name.

Concern, NPCs are named just like regular players, glitched or not. For example, in Ornella, you've got "Sister Helen," and "Owen," and "Cole," and what not that appear, or do appear, or have appeared, etc. (Cole in particular only appears to players doing that quest, so...)
We might end up going the Final Fantasy XIV route with names, because we're trying to avoid names with numbers. It's another one of those things that we didn't think would pop up quite this soon, y'know? Since I've never seen someone on a text-based MMORP actually go the number route, since most that do it in games are usually frowned upon by a lot of other players xD
You're making us think all the things!

I was merely thinking that it was a route name, as in a program name, not exactly visible... He still would show up as Vertti. He wound up as the first NPC, so I thought a program name would be more equivalent to a username. It would be more game like. That and I had already signed up as a player, with a player name. I don't get why this is a problem now? Because you did approve him as... such.
As for numbers, I usually see so many people with numbers or xxxs in their names when I play... granted I played WoW for a long while and that might be the reason, but even when I played Lineage, I saw these as usernames or tags or whatever you would call them. Most people would just shorten it, and its not like the NPCs can see their usernames. That would be weird wouldn't it? Suddenly knowing a stranger's name?

Concern, I did approve him, yep. However! He shows up as SISUHAASTAJA.OBJ for everyone to see. So everyone will know, right from the beginning, that he is a glitched NPC. He doesn't show up as VERTTI in game because what your username and display in is meant to be what they see in game. (And to be fair, I originally thought that the .obj bit was something you were removing, to be honest, and didn't give it much though x__o; So that is my bad.)
We haven't fully discussed how NPCs will handle the player interface, if they will have a similar version or not. That's why this site hasn't been officially opened yet, so we can work out all of those kinks and whatnot.
The biggest difference is that this isn't a regular MMO. If you are one of the ten thousand people in the entire world who were able to get a copy, having a name with numbers in it seems kind of odd? After talking it over with Kanon and Hiero, since again, we didn't expect someone to have a name with numbers this soon (or at all, in all honesty), we're going to stress that's not something we want to see. Especially something like xX_BloodLustShadowMaster22314_Xx.

But the question i have is why would an NPC have a screen name? If you're making an NPC, their name on the application should suffice then. Why bother with a username at all? They don't have user names. Its just their name. But they would have a Route name. Since the Usernames are supposed to be symbolic and supposed to create an atmosphere of actually logging in from what I read... why would the username matter to the NPC? Since they don't have one. They have a tag, which is shown in the name. Its just like making him feel like a NPC, by giving him a Route name. That is the purpose of making us use usernames right? To give the feeling we're logging in?
Then wouldn't it make sense for NPCs to have Route names for the same effect for roleplayers? While they aren't different than Players fundamentally speaking, they aren't logging in.
Anyway, I chose a numbered name for a reason, and honestly, while maybe only a few thousand people logged in, some people use the same usernames over and over again. Like I use my username over and over again. For anything. It's just habitual. Why you might not like to see it, I used to do it myself on Forums with my very first username. If anything it just signals how much of a noob he is, or how much that title might mean to him, because it would also be his forum name. Its just sentimental attachment. Hani being Hani is highly sentimental, he probably would have carried over his username.
My first username both on MMORPGS and Forums was Kattdids5724. I only ditched it because I thought of a cooler name... which wasn't cooler at all.
